High-level trilateral negotiations between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine have concluded in Geneva, Switzerland. According to Reuters, the discussions lasted for more than four hours as parties sought common ground on pressing regional security matters.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the talks, held at the InterContinental Hotel, are scheduled to continue on February 18. The Russian delegation is led by Vladimir Medinski, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation. The Ukrainian delegation includes Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, and Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Intelligence Directorate. Representing the United States are Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, advisor to US President Donald Trump.
Geneva has long served as a neutral ground for international diplomacy and high-stakes conflict resolution. These talks come at a pivotal moment for global security, following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025. The involvement of senior officials and advisors underscores the significance of this diplomatic effort to address the ongoing complexities in Eastern Europe and establish a framework for future stability.
