Law enforcement officers have detained a group of individuals involved in illegal meat slaughtering activities in the Tartar district of Azerbaijan.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the operation was conducted by the Tartar District Police Department in coordination with specialists from the Food Safety Agency (AQTA). During the raid, Tural Jafarov, Seymur Mammadov, Seyfaddin Guliyev, and Hasan Jafarli were apprehended.
Upon inspection of a semi-constructed building belonging to T. Jafarov, authorities discovered 146 kilograms of horse meat unfit for human consumption. The detained individuals confessed to their intention of transporting the hazardous products to the capital, Baku, to sell them under the guise of beef. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing at the Tartar District Police Department.
Food safety remains a critical priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the Food Safety Agency (AQTA) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) frequently conducting joint monitoring to prevent the sale of substandard products. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to ensure public health and maintain strict quality standards within the domestic food market, particularly regarding the supply chain to major urban centers like Baku.
