At least six people have been killed following a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting southern Lebanon, according to reports from the region.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Lebanon's official National News Agency, that the escalation has intensified over the past several hours.
According to the reports, an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) targeted a moving vehicle in the town of Brikaa during the morning hours, resulting in two fatalities. Additionally, a drone strike near the Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital in the town of Tul claimed the life of a young Syrian national.
Further military activity was recorded as another Israeli UAV targeted the town of Nebatiyeh al-Fawqa, while fighter jets conducted airstrikes on the towns of Haruf and Shukin. Attacks on the town of Kefrsir during the night hours resulted in three additional deaths.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has seen a significant uptick in cross-border hostilities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously authorized the military to conduct targeted airstrikes against Hezbollah infrastructure, including positions in the vicinity of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. These strikes are part of a broader regional security crisis that has seen frequent exchanges of fire along the Israel-Lebanon border.
