A driver has been arrested in Azerbaijan's Masallı district for operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics and without a valid driver's license.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, officers from the State Road Police Division of the Masallı District Police Department initially signaled the driver of a "BYD" brand vehicle to stop for failing to wear a seatbelt. Upon inspection, police identified the driver as R. Mammadov, who was found to be driving without a license. Due to suspicious behavior, Mammadov underwent a medical examination, which confirmed he was under the influence of marijuana. By court order, R. Mammadov has been sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest.
Azerbaijan has recently intensified its efforts to combat drug-impaired driving and illegal substance distribution across the country. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) regularly conducts comprehensive raids in both the capital, Baku, and regional districts to ensure road safety and public order. Under Azerbaijani law, driving under the influence of psychotropic substances carries strict penalties, including administrative detention, heavy fines, and the suspension of driving privileges to prevent potential traffic accidents and protect citizens.
