The Iranian Airlines Association has announced that approximately 20 aircraft were seriously damaged during recent military operations conducted by the United States and Israel against the country. Despite the impact on the fleet, officials stated that 95% of the airport infrastructure in Iran remains functional and undamaged.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Al-Jazeera and Fars News Agency, reports that these assessments are being released as the country prepares to reopen its airspace for commercial aviation. Technical teams are currently evaluating the extent of the damage to the grounded aircraft to determine if they can be returned to service.

The military escalation began on February 28, when US and Israeli forces launched a series of coordinated airstrikes across several Iranian cities. The operation followed the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, which triggered a significant shift in regional dynamics. In retaliation, Tehran launched missile strikes against Israel and targeted US military bases located in the Persian Gulf. US President Donald Trump has overseen the American involvement in the operations. While a temporary two-week ceasefire was established on April 8, 2026, recent diplomatic efforts mediated by Pakistan in Islamabad on April 11-12 concluded without a breakthrough, leaving the regional situation tense.
