A vital desalination plant located on Iran's Qeshm Island has been disabled following a targeted airstrike, causing significant damage to the region's infrastructure.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Middle Eastern media outlets, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health issued an official statement regarding the incident. While the exact date of the strike has not yet been disclosed, the impact on local resources is reported to be severe.

"The provision of drinking water to the population on Qeshm Island is carried out directly through desalination plants. One of these facilities was attacked and completely disabled. Due to the scale of the destruction, repairing the plant in the short term is impossible," the ministry official stated.

Qeshm Island, situated in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, relies heavily on such industrial facilities due to the arid climate and lack of natural freshwater sources in the Persian Gulf region. These desalination plants are considered critical infrastructure, as they convert seawater into potable water for thousands of residents and local industries. The disruption of such a facility often leads to immediate humanitarian challenges and heightened regional tensions.
