Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has received Satu Koivu, the newly appointed head of the European Union (EU) monitoring mission in the country. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Information and Public Relations Department of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office, the primary focus of the meeting was the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the dynamic nature of the developing relations between Armenia and the European Union, while highlighting the EU's consistent support for the development of democratic institutions. It should be noted that Satu Koivu was appointed to this position on February 17 of this year, succeeding the previous head of the mission, Markus Ritter.
The EU monitoring mission was established to observe the situation on the ground and contribute to stability in the border regions. This diplomatic engagement comes as Azerbaijan continues to advocate for a sustainable peace agreement based on the principles of territorial integrity and international law. The normalization process remains a key priority for regional security in the South Caucasus, with international mediators frequently facilitating discussions on border delimitation and the opening of regional transport communications.
