Azerbaijan's anti-corruption body investigates hundreds of cases

The Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan conducted extensive investigations based on appeals and other information received throughout 2025. This was announced during an operational meeting dedicated to the results of the past year.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Directorate investigated 315 materials of a criminal nature during the reporting period. As a result of these inquiries, criminal cases were initiated for 267 materials under various articles of the Criminal Code. Furthermore, while the initiation of criminal proceedings was refused for 48 materials, financial damages were recovered in 14 of those instances, and other prosecutorial measures were applied. Operational activities led to the opening of 114 criminal cases, with 18 individuals caught red-handed on suspicion of committing corruption-related offenses.

The fight against corruption remains a top priority for the government of Azerbaijan, forming a central pillar of the country's legal and administrative reforms. The Anti-Corruption Directorate, established as a specialized body within the Prosecutor General's Office, is tasked with preventing, detecting, and investigating corruption offenses to ensure transparency and accountability in public administration. These efforts align with Azerbaijan's international commitments and national strategies aimed at fostering a fair economic environment and strengthening the rule of law in the Republic.
