Three Azerbaijani servicemen who went missing during the First Garabagh War and were recently identified will be buried on May 15. The burial ceremonies for Rafiq Shirvan oglu Jafarov, Aladdin Hazi oglu Haziyev, and Zaur Imamgulu oglu Sadigov are scheduled to take place in the Fuzuli district.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons confirmed the identification of the remains through recent forensic analysis. Rafiq Jafarov will be interred in the cemetery of Abdulrahmanli village, while Aladdin Haziyev and Zaur Sadigov will be laid to rest in the Ishigli village cemetery.
The identification process is part of Azerbaijan's ongoing large-scale efforts to determine the fate of nearly 4,000 citizens who went missing during the First Garabagh War in the early 1990s. Following the liberation of territories, Azerbaijani authorities have intensified the excavation of mass graves and the collection of biological samples from relatives. The State Commission continues to work alongside international organizations to identify human remains discovered in the liberated regions of Azerbaijan.
