An Azerbaijani citizen, who was wanted under an Interpol red notice, has been detained in Batumi, Georgia.

This information was reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The ministry noted that standard extradition procedures are currently underway regarding the detained individual.

"Officers from the Central Department of the Adjara Criminal Police have arrested a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan who was wanted via an Interpol red notice. The individual was placed on the international wanted list at the request of Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies for committing a series of serious crimes. Following investigative actions, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect in Batumi," the statement said.

Interpol red notices are international requests for law enforcement to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action. This cooperation highlights the ongoing collaboration between Azerbaijani and Georgian security services in combating transnational crime and ensuring that individuals evading justice are held accountable.
