The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) has conducted extensive raids on fitness centers operating in Baku to combat the illegal sale of sports nutrition products. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, monitoring activities revealed that dangerous sports supplements were being sold in six enterprises that lacked the mandatory food safety registration.
During the inspections, serious violations were specifically recorded at two prominent sports facilities. Authorities found that sports nutrition products were being offered for sale without labeling information in the Azerbaijani language and without the required import health certificates. The facilities identified include the "EG Fitness" gym in the Surakhani district (I. Musayev Street, Massif Q3), owned by individual Vusal Elkhan oglu Mehdiyev, and the "Tempo Fitness" gym in the Narimanov district (Azadliq Ave., 145), owned by individual Fuad Yavar oglu Aslanli.
The Food Safety Agency confirmed that administrative protocols have been drawn up against the entrepreneurs who violated the regulations. Suspicious products, including brands such as "Instant Oats (ironmax)," "Amino Professional," "Ultra Strong (ironmax)," and "Pure Whey Isolate 95," have been immediately withdrawn from sale. Samples were taken for laboratory testing to verify their safety. In Azerbaijan, the Food Safety Agency serves as the primary regulatory body ensuring that all consumable products meet national health standards to protect public health and prevent the distribution of counterfeit or hazardous goods.
