Police seize 54 kg of drugs in Baku's Binagadi district

Law enforcement officers have seized 54 kilograms of various narcotic substances during a series of operations conducted in the Binagadi district of Baku. The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of the successful operation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers from the Binagadi District Police Department detained several individuals suspected of acting as drug couriers within the capital. During the searches, police seized 14.131 kg of opium and marijuana from Elnur Mammadov and his associate Elmar Balishov. Additionally, 24.256 kg of marijuana were found with Hikmat Karimli, 2.3 kg of marijuana and 500 psychotropic pills with Vusal Imanov, 7.527 kg of marijuana and opium with Movlud Aliyev, and 5.815 kg of marijuana and opium with Sanani Suleymanov. In total, 54 kilograms of illegal narcotics were removed from illicit circulation.

During their testimonies, the detainees stated that they acquired the drugs through Iranian citizens they met on social media, whose identities are currently being investigated. The suspects planned to distribute the substances to various addresses across Baku. Criminal cases have been initiated regarding these facts, and a court has ordered the arrest of all suspects as a preventive measure. Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts against international drug trafficking, particularly along the southern borders, as part of its national strategy to combat organized crime and protect public health.
