Foggy weather conditions have been recorded across several regions of Azerbaijan as of 13:00 on January 31. According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, the Operative Information Center-OMM reports that fog is currently observed in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Nakhchivan, Sharur, Shahbuz, Ordubad, Shabran, Yevlax, Sabirabad, Neftchala, Bilasuvar, Yardimli, and Astara.

Official data indicates that visibility in these areas has been restricted to 500 meters, necessitating increased caution for transport movement. While weather conditions across the Republic of Azerbaijan remain mostly without precipitation, south-westerly winds are impacting various districts. The maximum wind speed reached 20 m/s in Kalbajar, 19 m/s in Lerik, Shamakhi, and Gobustan, 18 m/s in Yardimli, Zangilan, and Dashkasan, and 17 m/s in Jabrayil. Forecasters advise both drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant due to the current atmospheric conditions.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors such atmospheric phenomena to ensure public safety and provide timely alerts for maritime and aviation sectors. Foggy conditions in the South Caucasus are typical during seasonal transitions, often caused by the cooling of moist air masses over the Caspian Sea and varied topographical terrain. These weather patterns can significantly impact logistics and infrastructure, particularly in mountainous regions like Kalbajar and the Zangezur corridor areas, where wind speeds and visibility fluctuate rapidly.
