Eighteen individuals were detained for violating the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan over the past month. According to the State Border Service (SBS), the detainees included citizens from various countries attempting to cross the border illegally.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the group consisted of four citizens of Azerbaijan, four from Afghanistan, three from Iran, three from Morocco, two from Nigeria, and one each from Pakistan and Algeria. Additionally, six individuals were apprehended for attempting to cross the border using forged documents, including falsified date stamps and passports belonging to others.
Authorities also detained 58 individuals for violating border regime rules. As part of broader law enforcement efforts, 366 wanted persons were captured and handed over to relevant agencies. Furthermore, the SBS prevented 804 people from leaving Azerbaijan due to existing travel bans, while 26 individuals with entry restrictions were denied access to the country.
Significant progress was reported in the fight against illegal trafficking. Border guards intercepted two attempts to smuggle drugs into Azerbaijan via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In total, 121.249 kilograms of narcotics and 23,647 various psychotropic pills were seized and removed from illegal circulation.
The total value of smuggled goods seized during the period reached 2,168,103 manats. The confiscated items included Russian currency, firearms, ammunition, medical supplies, and tobacco products. The State Border Service continues to enhance its technical capabilities and surveillance systems along the frontiers to ensure national security and combat organized crime, particularly in the context of illegal migration and drug trafficking.
