Azerbaijan issues weather warnings for strong winds

From June 20 to June 22, weather authorities have issued yellow and orange alerts for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions in Azerbaijan due to anticipated strong winds.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the National Hydrometeorological Service.

According to the forecast, yellow alerts have been issued for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as Barda, Tartar, Yevlakh, Aghdam, Aghjabadi, Beylagan, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Neftchala, Salyan, Saatli, Sabirabad, Imishli, Lankaran, Masalli, Astara, Lerik, Yardimli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Gazakh, Aghstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Gadabay, Goygol, Hajigabul, and Samukh. In these areas, strong easterly winds are expected, with speeds reaching 13.9–20.7 meters per second.

Meanwhile, orange alerts are in effect for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Mingachevir, Ganja, Naftalan, Goranboy, and Dashkasan. These regions are expected to experience severe north-westerly winds, with gusts intensifying between 20.8 and 28.4 meters per second.

The National Hydrometeorological Service advises citizens to take necessary precautions during these adverse weather conditions, particularly by avoiding standing near trees, billboards, or unstable structures during high-wind events.
