On June 20, Azerbaijan is expected to experience significant heat, with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 39°C. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a weather advisory regarding the ongoing heatwave.
In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, the weather is expected to remain primarily dry with a moderate north-westerly wind. Nighttime temperatures will range between 21-25°C, while daytime highs are anticipated to reach 33-38°C. Atmospheric pressure is recorded at 758 mm Hg, with relative humidity levels fluctuating between 45-75% throughout the day.
Across the regions of Azerbaijan, the weather is generally expected to be dry; however, intermittent rain is possible in some mountainous and foothill areas during the second half of the day. There is a risk of short-term intense precipitation, lightning, and hail in isolated locations. Nighttime and morning fog may occur in some mountainous areas. Daytime temperatures in the regions are expected to climb to 35-39°C, while mountainous areas will remain cooler, ranging from 20-25°C to 32°C in some parts.
The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors these climatic shifts, which are characteristic of the summer season in Azerbaijan. During such periods of extreme heat, health authorities typically advise citizens to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with high temperatures.
