A significant portion of Azerbaijan's specialized educational infrastructure requires urgent attention, with 211 art schools currently identified as being in substandard condition. The statistics were revealed during a public hearing on the current state and development perspectives of art schools held by the Committee for Science and Education of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Jaharat Valehov, advisor to the Minister of Culture, provided a detailed breakdown of the facility conditions during his address to the committee. According to the advisor, only 32.7 percent of the 211 schools in this category are in a renovated state. "Approximately 33.3 percent of these institutions are partially renovated, while 30.9 percent are completely unrenovated. Furthermore, 3.1 percent of the schools are currently in a state of emergency," Valehov stated.

The official also addressed the status of educational facilities in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. Currently, there are 50 art schools belonging to these regions; however, only 11 are operating within their original districts, while the remaining 39 continue their activities in temporary locations. This report comes as part of Azerbaijan's broader initiative to modernize its cultural and educational infrastructure following the restoration of territorial integrity. The government continues to prioritize the "Great Return" program, which includes the comprehensive reconstruction of social, educational, and cultural institutions in Garabagh and East Zangazur to facilitate the permanent settlement of displaced residents.
