The Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Turkmenistan continue with a diverse and extensive program.
According to information provided to the "Operative Information Center-OMM", an exhibition titled "Pearls of Azerbaijani National Heritage" opened on June 5 at the Turkmen State Museum of Fine Arts named after Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi in Ashgabat, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony featured speeches by Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Nursahat Shirimov, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Karimli, and Director of the Turkmen State Museum of Fine Arts Ismail Orazov.
During the tour of the exhibition, guests were informed that the presentation encompasses several key cultural pillars: the "Our National Heritage Living in the Works of Azim Azimzade" exhibition by the National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, a display of traditional and contemporary carpets from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, as well as traditional crafts and a fashion showcase titled "National Patterns in Modern Fashion."
The exposition highlights the works of People's Artist Azim Azimzade (1880-1943), a pioneer of Azerbaijani professional graphic art, while using museum artifacts to recreate the historical environment depicted in his illustrations. The exhibition features pile and flat-woven carpets, carpet products, artistic metalwork, and embroidery dating from the 19th century to the present day, further enriched by the works of People's Artist Eldar Mikayilzade.
The exhibition also includes examples of the "gurama" (patchwork) art form, with pieces created by the late Khalida Nasirova serving as a vivid expression of the Turkic worldview. Additionally, master craftsman Huseyn Hajimustafazade from Shaki provides live demonstrations of the "shebeke" (stained glass) technique, while jeweler Fuzuli Alizade presents traditional jewelry-making methods. The event concludes with a fashion show featuring collections by renowned designer Gulnara Khalilova and young designer Anara Zakirli.
Cultural exchange events like these serve to strengthen bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, fostering mutual understanding and promoting the shared heritage of the Turkic world. The exhibition, which offers a comprehensive look at Azerbaijan's cultural legacy, has been met with significant interest from local visitors.
