Officers of the Aghjabadi District Police Department have conducted a successful operation to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the region. During the operation, an Iranian citizen, Mohammad Mosazadeh, and an Azerbaijani national, Rashad Alifov, were detained in the territory of the Ashaghi Avshar village of the Aghjabadi district.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) press service told Operative Information Center-OMM that law enforcement officers discovered and seized two kilograms of heroin and the psychotropic substance methamphetamine from the suspects. Investigations revealed that Mohammad Mosazadeh had illegally transported the drugs into Azerbaijan using a hidden storage compartment within the truck he was operating.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. By court order, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest has been implemented against both individuals. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to investigate the matter to identify further links in the smuggling chain. Azerbaijan maintains a strict policy against drug trafficking, frequently conducting operations along its borders and within the country to prevent the transit of illegal substances along the so-called Balkan and Caspian routes.
