President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree approving the "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of statistics between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus."

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the memorandum was originally signed in Minsk on June 2, 2026. The decree formalizes the legal framework for the implementation of this agreement.

Under the terms of the decree, the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan is tasked with ensuring the implementation of the memorandum's provisions once it enters into force. Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is instructed to notify the Government of Belarus regarding the completion of the necessary domestic procedures required for the agreement to take effect.

This agreement is part of a broader effort to strengthen bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus. Statistical cooperation is considered a vital component of modern economic governance, as it facilitates the exchange of methodologies, data standardization, and improved accuracy in tracking trade turnover and macroeconomic indicators between partner nations.
