The Pentagon announced on Thursday that US paratroopers have successfully completed the first training exercises with the new "Bumblebee V2" drone hunter-killer system.

According to official information released by the Pentagon and reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the trials took place at the Fort Bragg base in North Carolina. The exercise involved 20 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division who utilized the autonomous system to track and neutralize simulated enemy drones, gaining critical practical experience in modern aerial defense.

US Army Sergeant Major Kellen Rowley emphasized the importance of the training, noting that personnel must master the fundamentals of drone operations and passive countermeasures before employing advanced air-to-air interceptor systems. The new system is designed to provide a more effective response to the growing threat of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in contemporary combat environments.

The development and testing of the Bumblebee V2 come amid a significant shift in global military strategy, where drones have become a primary challenge on the modern battlefield. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, the Department of Defense has prioritized the integration of autonomous defense systems to protect ground troops from low-cost, high-precision drone attacks. This initiative reflects a broader effort by the United States to maintain technological superiority in electronic warfare and counter-UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) capabilities, ensuring that mobile units can defend themselves against increasingly sophisticated swarms and surveillance craft.
