Four killed, 10 injured in major traffic accident in Sivas

A severe traffic accident occurred on the Sivas-Suşehri highway in Turkey, resulting in the deaths of four people and leaving 10 others injured.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident was recorded in the Gemin Deresi area. Preliminary reports indicate that the passenger minibus, driven by Hayati Aras, lost control while in motion, struck roadside barriers, and subsequently plunged into a ravine.

The Sivas Governor's Office stated that the minibus, which was traveling from Sivas towards Suşehri, was carrying a total of 14 passengers at the time of the incident.

Upon receiving notification of the crash, emergency medical teams, AFAD personnel, police, and gendarmerie forces were immediately dispatched to the scene. Rescue operations confirmed that four passengers died at the site of the accident. The victims have been identified as Hikmet Cengiz, Funda Durhan, Erva Durhan, and Dilek Özcan.

The 10 injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals via ambulances and an air ambulance. Official reports indicate that four of the injured are in critical condition, while the remaining six are reported to be out of danger.

Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Such accidents on Turkey's intercity highways often prompt rigorous safety reviews by local authorities to prevent future occurrences on high-risk routes like the Sivas-Suşehri road.
