The Intelligent Transport Management Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has issued a formal warning to drivers regarding the dangers of using mobile devices while behind the wheel.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the center.

Officials stated that a significant portion of traffic accidents in Baku, which result in material damage, are caused by driver inattention. Specifically, the use of mobile phones while driving has been identified as a primary distraction.

"Drivers who are distracted while in motion lose the ability to react to changing traffic conditions, such as red traffic lights, sudden congestion, or stalled vehicles. Because these drivers fail to reduce their speed in time, accidents occur. Such incidents, which often result in fatalities, injuries, or at best, material damage, negatively impact all other road users," the center noted.

The Intelligent Transport Management Center of the MIA urges all motorists to maintain focus on the road and approach traffic safety with a high sense of responsibility.

The Intelligent Transport Management Center plays a crucial role in regulating traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital. By utilizing advanced surveillance and traffic management technologies, the center monitors road conditions in real-time to enhance safety and reduce congestion across the city's major thoroughfares.
