President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Russian President Vladimir Putin have signed a joint declaration in Astana titled "On the Seven Foundations of Friendship and Good Neighborliness of the Peoples of Kazakhstan and Russia."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Kazinform agency, the meeting also facilitated the exchange of several interstate and interdepartmental agreements aimed at deepening bilateral ties.
A significant outcome of the visit was the cooperation between Kazakhstan's Atomic Energy Agency and Russia's Rosatom. The two entities signed documents regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Almaty region, alongside an agreement for the provision of export credits to facilitate the project's implementation. Furthermore, the education ministries of both nations agreed to establish a "Sirius" school in Kazakhstan, while their respective energy ministries exchanged agreements focused on expanding cooperation in the oil sector.
Kazakhstan and Russia maintain a strategic partnership, often characterized by extensive economic, energy, and security cooperation. The construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan represents a major infrastructure initiative, reflecting the growing energy demands of the region and the deepening technological collaboration between the two neighboring states.
