At least 69 people have been killed following two separate unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks targeting cities in the central and southern regions of Sudan.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that medical sources and local volunteers provided the casualty figures following the strikes.
The situation in the affected regions remains tense as investigations into the incidents continue. No official statement has been released regarding which party to the conflict is responsible for the drone strikes.
Sudan has been gripped by a violent internal conflict since April 2023, involving a power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The ongoing war has led to a massive humanitarian crisis, resulting in thousands of deaths and displacing millions of people both internally and across borders. International organizations have repeatedly called for a ceasefire as the use of advanced weaponry, including drones, continues to escalate the civilian death toll in residential areas.
