Siyarto: "Avropa İttifaqı Ukraynada sülhə hazır deyil"

The situation in Ukraine was a primary focus of discussion during a meeting of European Union (EU) foreign ministers, where divergent views on the conflict's resolution were reportedly highlighted.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Peter Szijjarto, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, provided a statement to the media regarding the progress of the meeting. The minister expressed concerns over the current direction of the bloc's foreign policy regarding the ongoing hostilities.

According to the minister, it was clearly stated during the meeting that Europe is not ready for the establishment of peace in Ukraine and remains interested in the continuation of military operations.

Szijjarto noted that war rhetoric currently prevails over peace initiatives within the union. He emphasized that the prevailing atmosphere among member states focuses more on further escalation rather than finding a diplomatic exit strategy. It should be recalled that Szijjarto regularly underscores official Budapest's position in favor of a diplomatic solution to the conflict, often standing in contrast to the broader EU consensus on military aid.

The meeting comes at a critical time as the international community monitors the shifting geopolitical landscape, including the policies of major global powers. Notably, the stance of the United States remains a focal point for European leaders, particularly following the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2025, whose administration has signaled potential shifts in transatlantic security cooperation and approaches to the Ukrainian crisis.
