The Swedish government will allocate 1 billion Swedish krona in 2026 to support Ukraine's energy sector.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dous informed the SVT portal about the initiative. The allocated funds amount to more than 110 million US dollars.

According to the minister, Sweden's assistance will be directed toward power plants, heating equipment, and spare parts immediately necessary for the restoration of Ukraine's energy supply. This financial commitment is part of Stockholm's broader strategy to bolster Ukrainian infrastructure amid ongoing regional instability.

On January 27, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that 710,000 subscribers in Kyiv remained without electricity. According to him, it has not yet been possible to fully implement the pre-planned schedule for power supply in the capital due to significant damage to the grid.

Sweden has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine, providing both humanitarian and military aid since the escalation of the conflict. This latest energy-focused package aims to mitigate the impact of infrastructure destruction, ensuring that critical services and heating remain functional for the civilian population during peak demand periods.
