German President Steinmeier details talks with President Aliyev

President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has shared details regarding his recent discussions with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Berlin.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the statement was published on the German President's official Facebook page.

"The focus of the talks was on bilateral relations, the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as current regional and international issues," Steinmeier noted.

He welcomed the progress achieved in the peace settlement and normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing support for future steps toward the conclusion of a comprehensive peace treaty.

The statement placed special emphasis on the development of German-Azerbaijani cooperation. The German President highlighted Azerbaijan's significance as a key partner for Berlin in the South Caucasus, particularly in the energy and economic sectors.

Germany and Azerbaijan have maintained diplomatic relations since 1992, with cooperation expanding significantly in recent years. As a major economic power in the European Union, Germany views Azerbaijan as a strategic partner, especially in the context of energy security and regional stability in the South Caucasus.
