Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced his intention to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan in the near future to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Serbian leader made this statement during the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia held in Belgrade, which was attended by President Ilham Aliyev.
"We must achieve many results before that. Specifically, I discussed the issue of a gas-powered power plant in Dubravka with President Ilham Aliyev. I asked the President to personally look into this matter, as I spoke very sincerely about what we can and cannot do. I received a guarantee from President Ilham Aliyev that he would personally provide great assistance to us in this regard. After the technical feasibility studies are completed, we must accelerate all other processes," Aleksandar Vucic stated.
The meeting underscores the growing strategic alliance between Baku and Belgrade, particularly in the energy sector. Azerbaijan has emerged as a key partner for Serbia in diversifying its energy sources, following the inauguration of the gas interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria, which allows for the delivery of Azerbaijani natural gas to the Serbian market. This cooperation is part of a broader framework of the Strategic Partnership Council, established to deepen economic, political, and energy security ties between the two countries.
