Sabah FC has advanced to the final of the Azerbaijan Cup after defeating Garabagh FK in the second leg of the semi-final stage. The match, held at the Bank Respublika Arena in Baku, concluded with a 2-1 victory for the home side, securing their place in the decisive match of the tournament.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the encounter saw Camilo Duran open the scoring for the Aghdam representative in the 59th minute. However, Sabah staged a late comeback with goals from Velko Simic in the 78th minute and Patrik Mbina in the 87th minute. Gurban Gurbanov's side played the majority of the match with ten men after goalkeeper Mateusz Kochalski received a straight red card in the 35th minute for a professional foul.
Following a 2-2 draw in the first leg, the aggregate score favored the Baku club, allowing them to progress to the final stage. Sabah will now face Zira FC in the final, who secured their spot after a goalless draw against Turan Tovuz, following a 2-0 win in their first-leg encounter. The Azerbaijan Cup final is scheduled to take place on May 13 at the Palms Sports Arena.
