The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen a significant intensification in the use of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), with both nations increasingly targeting logistics, energy, and maritime infrastructure. These strikes have resulted in reported casualties and substantial material damage on both sides of the front line.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Russian officials reported that Ukrainian drones targeted two warehouses belonging to the e-commerce company "Wildberries" in the Tambov and Moscow regions. A strike on a logistics center in the city of Kotovsk reportedly resulted in seven fatalities and at least 25 injuries. Another facility in the city of Elektrostal also sustained damage, with reports of casualties among personnel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the operations, asserting that the targeted facilities were linked to the production of Russian drones and navigation system components. However, claims regarding the military utilization of the "Wildberries" facilities remain unverified by independent sources. Additionally, debris from a downed drone reportedly ignited a fire at an oil depot near the Moscow region, leaving two people injured.
Simultaneously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a drone strike had targeted a dry cargo ship in the port of Chornomorsk, located in Ukraine's Odesa region. While Moscow alleged that the vessel was transporting military supplies, Kyiv has not issued a statement regarding this specific incident.
The escalation in drone warfare underscores the evolving nature of the conflict, which has increasingly shifted toward deep-strike capabilities. Since the onset of full-scale hostilities in February 2022, both Moscow and Kyiv have prioritized the disruption of supply chains and energy grids, turning logistics hubs and industrial sites into key strategic battlegrounds.
