The Russian Embassy in Baku has expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for the assistance provided to Russian citizens crossing the border from Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared this update on her Telegram channel, highlighting the efficient cooperation between the two nations.
The Russian side expressed particular appreciation to Azerbaijan for the prompt processing of border crossing permits and the logistical support provided at the frontier. "The Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan is providing assistance to Russian citizens leaving Iran through the Astara border checkpoint. We would like to express our gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the help provided, including the rapid processing of border crossing permits," the statement noted. It was further reported that approximately 500 Russian citizens are currently on the list of individuals authorized to cross from Iran into Azerbaijan.
The Astara border crossing point serves as a vital transit hub within the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), connecting Russia, Azerbaijan, and Iran. Azerbaijan has consistently invested in modernizing its border infrastructure to ensure the seamless movement of goods and people. This latest cooperation underscores the strategic partnership between Baku and Moscow, particularly in managing regional transit and providing humanitarian assistance during cross-border movements.
