The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA) has launched extensive repair and restoration works on highways in the Quba, Qusar, Khachmaz, and Shabran districts. These measures aim to address the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding that affected several regions across Azerbaijan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these activities are being carried out in accordance with a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev to eliminate the consequences of natural disasters. The project includes clearing a major landslide at the 30th kilometer of the Quba–Ispik–Khinalig road and addressing soil collapses and landslides between the 40th and 42nd kilometers of the Quba–Gonagkend–Muchu highway. Additionally, the agency will replace gravel surfaces on the Yerfi–Adur road, install new water drainage pipes totaling 81 meters, and restore bridge infrastructure in the village of Sohub and along the Khachmaz–Khudat–Yalama and Hazra–Muchug routes.

The northern regions of Azerbaijan, characterized by mountainous terrain, are frequently susceptible to seasonal flooding and landslides during periods of intense precipitation. The rapid response by state agencies is part of a broader national strategy to modernize rural infrastructure and ensure the safety of transport corridors connecting remote mountain villages with regional centers. These efforts are critical for maintaining tourism access and local economic stability in the Greater Caucasus region, particularly for high-altitude settlements like Khinalig.
