French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) may part ways with Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov next year, according to reports.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the French newspaper L'Équipe, the PSG management is planning significant changes to its squad and is currently developing a new strategy for the goalkeeper position.
Reports indicate that the Paris club is keen to sign Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, currently playing for Parma. Should this transfer materialize, PSG reportedly plans to loan Suzuki to Juventus immediately, with the intention of recalling him as the primary goalkeeper for the following summer season.
If this scenario proceeds, the French champions will likely need to offload one of their current goalkeepers. Sources suggest that club management is evaluating the potential departure of either Matvey Safonov or Lucas Chevalier.
The final decision is expected to depend on the goalkeepers' performances throughout the upcoming season and their ability to compete for a starting spot in the squad.
Matvey Safonov has been with PSG since 2024. During the previous season, the Russian goalkeeper made 26 appearances across all competitions, conceding 27 goals. PSG, a dominant force in French football, frequently adjusts its roster to maintain competitiveness in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.
