On September 1, a meeting in the "SCO Plus" format was held in Bishkek, the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev arrived at the "Iris Ordo" Congress Center in Bishkek to participate in the summit.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov welcomed President Ilham Aliyev along with other heads of state and government. Following the arrival ceremony, the participants of the "SCO Plus" meeting took a commemorative group photo.

Addressing the summit, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the Kyrgyz President for the invitation and hospitality. He noted the strengthening of bilateral ties, particularly referencing the Treaty on Alliance Relations signed between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan just a month prior. The President also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.

Regarding regional developments, President Ilham Aliyev stated: "A little over a year ago, Azerbaijan and Armenia initialed the text of a peace treaty, putting an end to a 30-year conflict. Thus, the South Caucasus region, which had been a conflict zone for many years, is turning into a zone of peace." He emphasized that Azerbaijan restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity independently, noting that the UN Security Council resolutions from 1993 were implemented by Azerbaijan itself after 30 years. The President called for the development of effective mechanisms to ensure the swift implementation of such resolutions in the future to enhance the UN's authority in conflict resolution.

In response, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov thanked President Aliyev for his comprehensive remarks, noting that such broad dialogue is essential for the formation of a fair and multipolar world.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) serves as a critical platform for Eurasian political, economic, and security cooperation. The "SCO Plus" format allows the organization to engage with non-member states and international partners, fostering broader regional dialogue on pressing global issues, including connectivity, security, and economic development.
