President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, and their daughter Arzu Aliyeva visited the village of Khanabad in the Khojaly district on February 25 to inspect the progress of ongoing restoration and reconstruction projects.
During the visit, the head of state and the First Family were briefed on the comprehensive infrastructure works being carried out in the village. The projects include the restoration of residential buildings, the establishment of modern utility systems, and the development of social infrastructure aimed at ensuring a high standard of living for returning residents. The visit underscores the government's commitment to the rapid revitalization of the liberated territories.
The reconstruction of Khanabad is part of the wider "Great Return" program, a strategic state initiative designed to facilitate the safe and sustainable repatriation of internally displaced persons to their ancestral lands in Garabagh and East Zangazur. Following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, the government has prioritized the rebuilding of cities and villages in these regions, transforming them into modern, smart settlements with sustainable economic opportunities.
