President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev gave an interview to Euronews television in Davos on January 20. The head of state discussed the evolving global order, regional stability, and Azerbaijan's growing role in European energy security.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that following the interview, the President attended an event titled "Breakfast with the Azerbaijani Leadership," where he addressed questions from international business representatives representing various countries.

During the interview, President Ilham Aliyev noted that the international system is undergoing a fundamental reassessment. "We are facing a situation where the norms of international law no longer seem absolute for all members of the world community," the President stated. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity was carried out in full compliance with international law and universal values. He further noted that in the current era, the "rule of power" often replaces the "rule of law," requiring countries to align their strategies with their potential and build strong regional and global relations.

Regarding the peace process in the South Caucasus, President Ilham Aliyev mentioned his receipt of the "Zayed Award for Human Fraternity," viewing it as recognition of efforts to establish peace after decades of conflict. He highlighted that Azerbaijan and Armenia have lived in peace for several months, and Baku has begun removing restrictions and supplying essential goods, including petroleum products, to Armenia to foster cooperation. "Our goal is to achieve not just long-term, but eternal peace in the Caucasus," the President added.

On energy, the President confirmed that Azerbaijan now exports natural gas to 16 countries, 10 of which are European Union members. He reiterated that Azerbaijan remains a reliable partner for Europe's energy security, describing the European market as a "premium market" for the country's resources. Addressing criticism from the European Parliament, he described it as the result of biased lobbying and stated that Azerbaijan has ceased reacting to such statements, focusing instead on its cooperation with the European Commission.

The World Economic Forum in Davos serves as a critical global platform for leaders to discuss geopolitical shifts and economic cooperation. Azerbaijan's consistent participation underscores its strategic importance as a key energy supplier and a stabilizing force in the Eurasia region.
