President Ilham Aliyev has stated that Azerbaijan supports resolving the current situation regarding Iran through peace and negotiations.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, made these remarks during a meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, on August 31 in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
The head of state emphasized that Azerbaijan's support for Iran during the current circumstances serves as a testament to the fraternal relations between the two neighboring nations.
The meeting in Bishkek took place on the sidelines of international diplomatic engagements, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between Baku and Tehran. Azerbaijan and Iran share a long border and deep historical, cultural, and religious ties, which often necessitate high-level diplomatic coordination to address regional security and economic cooperation issues. Both nations have frequently emphasized the importance of maintaining stability in the South Caucasus and the broader region through constructive engagement.
