Azerbaijan and Italy are strategic partners, President Ilham Aliyev said during a joint press statement with the President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, in Baku.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state emphasized that the visit serves as a testament to the robust nature of the bilateral relationship. "Your presence in Azerbaijan today once again demonstrates how deep the content of Azerbaijan-Italy relations is," President Ilham Aliyev underlined during the meeting.
The relationship between the two countries is characterized by a high level of political and economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector. Italy remains Azerbaijan's top trading partner in the European Union, largely due to the export of hydrocarbons via the Southern Gas Corridor. The strategic partnership is further solidified by numerous agreements covering energy, infrastructure, and cultural exchange, reflecting a shared commitment to regional stability and economic growth.
