President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the long-standing and successful operations of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Ukraine, highlighting the deep-rooted energy ties between the two nations. Speaking during a joint press statement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Azerbaijani leader noted that bilateral cooperation continues to expand across various sectors.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev underlined that beyond political dialogue, energy remains a cornerstone of the partnership. "We are successfully cooperating in many areas today. This cooperation was confirmed once again. Among the issues discussed, energy cooperation is particularly noteworthy. There are both achievements—SOCAR has been operating successfully in Ukraine for many years—and at the same time, there are excellent prospects and joint projects," the head of state said.
SOCAR entered the Ukrainian market in 2008 and has since established a significant presence, including a wide network of filling stations and fuel storage facilities. This energy partnership is a key component of the strategic relationship between Baku and Kyiv, contributing to regional energy security. Azerbaijan remains a reliable energy partner for several European nations, leveraging its Caspian Sea resources to foster international economic stability and infrastructure development.
