Representatives of Armenian civil society have arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in a bilateral roundtable discussion scheduled for April 10–12. The visit is part of the "Peace Bridge" initiative, which aims to foster direct dialogue and strengthen ties between the civil societies of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Armenian delegation entered Azerbaijan through the land border, specifically crossing via a delimited and demarcated section. The participants underwent all standard border and passport control procedures as required by national legislation. The agenda for the upcoming sessions includes the current status of the peace process, activities conducted by initiative members in their respective countries, and a comprehensive review of the regional situation.
This dialogue is being conducted within the framework of the bilateral peace agenda reaffirmed during the trilateral summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025, involving the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States. During that summit, US President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of humanitarian and civil tracks in achieving a lasting settlement. The current discussions in Azerbaijan will focus on promoting peace at the community level and implementing confidence-building measures to support the subsequent stages of the normalization process.
The "Peace Bridge" initiative serves as a critical track for track-two diplomacy, complementing official negotiations between Baku and Yerevan. By facilitating direct interaction between non-governmental actors, the program seeks to reduce historical tensions and build a foundation for peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus. Such initiatives have gained momentum following the successful delimitation of specific border segments, which has provided a practical framework for safe transit and increased regional cooperation.
