New regulations regarding the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices in primary schools and preschool institutions have officially come into force across Poland.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the restrictions coincide with the start of the new academic year. Under the new policy, primary school students are prohibited from using mobile phones and similar electronic devices during lessons, breaks, and other school activities. In preschool institutions, children are generally not permitted to bring such devices to school at all.
The new regulations include specific exceptions, such as the use of devices for educational purposes, communication with parents in emergencies, situations posing a direct threat to health or life, and cases involving specific medical or special needs. While secondary schools are not covered by these nationwide mandatory rules, they retain the authority to restrict mobile phone usage based on their own internal policies.
These restrictions are part of a broader government campaign aimed at reducing children's exposure to harmful online content. Furthermore, the Polish government has previously announced that it is working on new legislation concerning social media usage for children under the age of 15, reflecting a growing global trend among European nations to prioritize digital well-being in educational environments.
