President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian has issued a statement regarding the ongoing negotiation process with the United States and the country's official position.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state declared that Tehran will not make any concessions regarding its national rights, state interests, and core principles. He emphasized that Iran remains steadfast in defending this position.
In his address, President Pezeshkian criticized attempts by certain political circles to undermine the negotiation process. He stressed that all diplomatic activities are being conducted in full coordination with Iran's supreme leadership and within the framework of national legislation.
The President noted that the primary objective of the negotiating team is to protect the country's national interests and the rights of its citizens. He characterized the results achieved thus far as a diplomatic success for Iran.
The context of these negotiations remains complex, particularly following reports that US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, visited Doha, Qatar, amid Washington's expectations for potential talks with Iran. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed that an Iranian expert delegation would travel to Doha this week. He clarified that the visit is focused on the unfreezing of Iranian assets and is not directly related to direct negotiations with the United States.
Diplomatic relations between Tehran and Washington have been strained for decades, characterized by sanctions, regional tensions, and intermittent efforts to revive nuclear or economic agreements. The current administration in Tehran continues to navigate these challenges while balancing domestic political pressures and international diplomatic requirements.
