Cenevrədə İran-ABŞ nüvə danışıqlarının üçüncü raundu: Razılaşma yaxındırmı?

The third round of negotiations between Iran and the United States aimed at reviving diplomacy regarding the nuclear program is set to begin in Geneva on February 26.

Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media, reports that the primary goal of the meeting, confirmed by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, is to bridge existing gaps between the parties and reach a potential agreement.

US officials have demanded that Tehran present a detailed proposal plan regarding its nuclear activities. Meanwhile, the Iranian side emphasizes that discussions should be limited strictly to nuclear issues and stresses the importance of protecting the country's peaceful scientific progress. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian characterized previous meetings as "encouraging signals" but noted that his country remains prepared for any scenario and is closely monitoring US policy.

US President Donald Trump noted that the window for diplomacy is limited, stating that it will become clear within approximately 10 to 15 days whether the negotiations will yield real results. This statement coincides with an increase in US military presence in the Middle East. Currently, more than 120 aircraft and naval assets, including the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike groups, are deployed in the region.

The current tensions stem from the 2018 unilateral withdrawal of the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which was originally signed in 2015. Diplomats believe the Geneva talks may result in a temporary confidence-building agreement rather than a full-scale deal. However, regional military tensions and domestic political pressures remain key factors influencing the diplomatic process. Historically, the JCPOA was designed to limit Iran's nuclear enrichment in exchange for the lifting of international economic sanctions, a framework that has faced significant challenges over the past decade.
