Paşinyan: Azərbaycanla sülhü qorumaq əsas məqsədimizdir

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that maintaining and strengthening the existing peace with Azerbaijan is the primary objective for his government. He noted that the absence of military clashes and casualties over the past two years represents a significant achievement for the region's stability and security.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Pashinyan shared these remarks on social media regarding the current state of regional affairs. "We are celebrating the 81st anniversary of the victory over fascism under complex international circumstances. On May 9, 2026, we also celebrate the peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. For two years now, there have been no clashes, losses, or wounded. This is the first very important achievement since our country gained independence," he wrote. Pashinyan further emphasized that the established peace provides a historic opportunity for progress and development in the region.

The normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia has gained significant momentum following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Current negotiations between the two nations focus on the delimitation of state borders and the opening of regional transport communications. Both Baku and Yerevan have expressed a commitment to signing a final peace treaty based on the mutual recognition of sovereignty and territorial integrity, a move seen by the international community as a vital step toward long-term prosperity in the South Caucasus.
