Two individuals accused of drug couriering have been arrested in the Oguz district of Azerbaijan.
The regional group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that the suspects were detained as part of a targeted operation against illegal drug trafficking. The detainees, identified as 39-year-old Parviz Mahmudov and 34-year-old Khanlar Abdullayev, both have prior criminal records. During the search, law enforcement officers discovered and seized more than 13 kilograms of marijuana from the suspects.
The detained individuals confessed that they had acquired the narcotics with the specific intent to sell them. Azerbaijan continues to intensify its national strategy to combat the illegal drug trade, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducting large-scale operations to dismantle smuggling networks and prevent the distribution of controlled substances within the country. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and by court order, pretrial detention has been implemented for both individuals as the investigation continues.
