The number of individuals receiving labor pensions on special terms in Azerbaijan reached 151,232 in January of this year, marking a steady increase in the country's social security coverage.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, that this figure represents a 2.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the official data, 114,358 of these recipients are receiving old-age pensions, an annual increase of 2.6 percent. The number of individuals receiving disability pensions stood at 14,112, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.7 percent. Meanwhile, those receiving pensions for the loss of a head of household rose to 22,762 people, indicating a 5.2 percent growth compared to the previous year.
In Azerbaijan, pensions on special terms are typically granted to individuals working in arduous or hazardous conditions, members of the military, law enforcement officers, and other specific professional categories. The State Social Protection Fund continues to automate these services to ensure transparency and accessibility. These social reforms are part of a broader strategy by the government of Azerbaijan to strengthen the social safety net and improve the welfare of vulnerable populations across the Republic.
