According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, preliminary reports suggest that the individuals were poisoned by gas leaking while they attempted to illegally extract crude oil from a pipeline.
The incident reportedly took place at the Okari Jetty during an oil loading operation onto a vessel. It is alleged that the suspects were attempting to transfer oil under high pressure into small boats when the leak occurred.
Police spokesperson Kaborlo Agabe confirmed the incident and announced that an investigation has been launched. While law enforcement authorities have acknowledged the deaths occurred during the theft attempt, the exact number of fatalities has not yet been officially verified by all state agencies.
