A meeting of the Economic Council was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The agenda primarily focused on the draft of the "State Program for the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030," including development perspectives and key priority measures. Additionally, the Council discussed the draft program titled "Development of the Mining and Metallurgical Industry: Current Situation and Perspectives until 2030," alongside other current economic issues.
During the session, the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, delivered a detailed presentation on the tourism development agenda, while Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov presented on the mining and metallurgy sector. Members of the Economic Council and invited officials provided their insights on the proposed initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, decisions were made to submit both draft state programs to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for review, and relevant instructions were issued to the appropriate government bodies.
The Economic Council serves as a key consultative body in Azerbaijan, tasked with coordinating strategic economic policy and ensuring the sustainable development of non-oil sectors. By focusing on tourism and the metallurgical industry, the government aims to diversify the national economy and reduce reliance on traditional energy exports, aligning with the country's long-term economic development strategy.
