Armenia and Turkey have reached a stage in their dialogue where positive outcomes are expected, according to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. Speaking at the "Yerevan Dialogue - 2026" international conference, Mirzoyan noted that the normalization process is gaining momentum through concrete projects and diplomatic engagement.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media, reports that the Foreign Minister highlighted a memorandum signed between the two nations for the joint restoration of the historic Ani bridge located on the border. "We have a great dialogue with Turkey. There have been numerous opportunities for cooperation; just yesterday, our representatives signed a memorandum on the joint restoration of the historic Ani bridge," Mirzoyan stated. He also mentioned that a working group recently held its third meeting to discuss the restoration of the Gyumri-Kars railway link.
The normalization of ties between Armenia and Turkey is closely linked to the broader peace process in the South Caucasus and the establishment of regional stability. Azerbaijan has consistently supported the opening of regional transport communications and the normalization of relations based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The restoration of infrastructure, such as the Ani bridge and railway links, is seen as a vital component of enhancing connectivity between Europe and Asia through the region, contributing to the economic development of the entire South Caucasus.
